What To Bring |
RequiredMany people wonder "What do I bring when leaving my pet at the resort?" This page is a reference page so you know what you NEED to bring, and elective items that may make your pets stay here more comfortable.
*It is required that all pets staying at the resort have a current rabies certificate (unless too young to receive a rabies vaccine, which is under four months of age) *All dogs checking in to the resort need to be current on yearly series vaccines. If your dog is not current or is "due" for these vaccines, please let us know and for a small additional fee, we will provide these vaccines for your pet. *Please be sure to provide a name and number for your pets Veterinarian, there is a space provided on the contract for this information. In case of emergency it is best for your pet to go to a location where his/her medical records are kept. American Dream will notify you before taking your pet to the Veterinarian, however if we can not reach you or a emergency contact, your pet will be taken at our discretion. If you do not have a regular Veterinarian, your pet will be taken to our Vet on call. Any Veterinary care your pet receives will be at the owners expense.
Optional*It is recommended (but not required) that your pet receive a bordatella (kennel cough vaccine) at least 10 days prior to vacationing here with us at the resort. We can provide this vaccine (which is usually intra nasal- goes in the nose). However, for bordatella (kennel cough) vaccines to be effective, it is best they are given at least 10 days prior to a stay or visit to any parks, kennels, dog shows, etc. *Bedding is also a nice addition for your pets stay. Please feel free to bring any pet beds, blankets, pillows, etc, while your pet is visiting us here at the resort, these hold the smells of home and comfort your pet. Please remember for our guests staying where they will be playing in the play yards or romping with "friends" that they will be having fun!! Digging, playing in water, and with the apparatus here, so expect bedding to get dirty. We are not responsible for any bedding that may get torn or dirty. If you would like us to provide a blanket or bed for your pet while he/she is here, we will be happy to do so, just let us know. *Feel free to bring, toys, greenies, rawhide bones, milk bones, etc., for your pet while he/she is here. We will happily pass out dog cookies when needed, or you can leave your pets favorite chew bone with them, to keep them busy and remind them of home. Toys, such as kongs, balls, Frisbees, stuffy toys may also be brought but are recommended for our guests that will be vacationing alone or with a friend of the same family. We do provide age and breed appropriate toys in our play yards for the guests to use. *It is also recommended to provide your pets own food they are used to eating at home. It helps keep upset tummies to a minimum and also ensures your pet is eating a diet that works for them. Food is included in the board fee, unless otherwise discussed. We feed a premium food and do work with what is best for each individual pet, example being, if a puppy is checked in and will be eating food provided by the resort, rest assured your puppy will be eating puppy food, and all seniors (pets 7 years and older) get senior food, etc. *If you would like to provide your pets bowl to eat or drink out of, please try to mark the bowl with your pets name or your last name. We provide all bowls and buckets for feed and water, unless otherwise told not to. *If your pet takes medications, by pill, liquid, or injection, or takes a daily supplement for conditioning, allergies, etc. We will gladly dispense meds to your pet for no additional charge. Please be sure to let the staff member know when you check in what the name of the medication or supplement is and how often your pet is to receive it, so that we may note it in the chart. *Some pets eat a canned variety of food, we ask that you please let a staff member know if your pet will be receiving canned food, and how often, mixed with dry food, in addition to dry food, etc. You may provide your own canned food for your pet if he/she needs it, or we also can provide canned food, with a small additional fee of $1 per can which will be added to your invoice at check out. *Many pets are checked in with their leash and collar. It is policy here at the resort for no dog to wear a choker chain when boarded. Flat collars may be left on your pet, however if your pet will be playing and romping with other "friends" we remove them during play, so they do not get chewed or pulled off. American Dream is not responsible for any lost collars. We ask that at the time of check in you take your leash with you, if left here it will go in a bag with your name on it until pick up. *If you have elected to have your pet groomed prior to departure, and have any special requests, such as special shampoos or treatments, how your pet will be clipped if getting a full groom, etc, please let a staff member know when you check in. * Have fun, your pet is in good hands and is vacationing here at the resort while you are away. Any concerns please feel free to let us know, we are always here to listen! |
